No Giant Midway this year | The News-Sentinel - Fort Wayne IN.
The Giant Midway in Memorial Coliseum’s parking lot will not be there during this year’s Fort Wayne Newspapers Three Rivers Festival. “This is totally up to them,” festival Executive Director Mayumi Carboni said. “Midway has never been our TRF-sponsored event in the past; they were affiliated, but funded and executed their own event during the festival.” The coliseum will lose $25,145 in rent and its share of sales tax, according to coliseum official C.J. Steigmeyer. A representative of midway operator Belle City Amusements of Deltona, Fla., who would not give his name, said, “We don’t come to Indiana anymore.” He refused to answer further questions. The festival will host its own midway carnival rides and games, called Meijer Fest Unlimited, Carboni said.
