OWEGO, N.Y. — After 150 years, the Tioga County Fair in New York is still going strong, and offers visitors a chance to see livestock shows, ride carnival rides and enjoy family fun all this week. The fair kicked off on Tuesday and continues until Saturday at the fairgrounds in Owego, N.Y. On the fairgrounds, there are the usual carnival rides such as a Ferris Wheel, scramblers, mini roller coasters, a carousel, a giant slide and a swinging ship, along with other attractions on the midway, like the “world’s largest bat room,” games of chance, and of course, lots of fair food. One of the booths selling concessions was the Loyal Order of the Moose 1595 of Owego, a group that has been set up at the fair for many years, according to member Les Allen. He said it gets a pretty good crowd coming to buy concessions, and added that the organization’s crowd is bigger when the fair’s crowd is bigger, like during the demolition derby.
