Coos County Fair kicks off with opening dedication ceremony
MYRTLE POINT, Ore. - The Coos County Fair is in full swing, after folks officially kicked off the 2009 season Tuesday morning with a brief opening ceremony. The Coquille and Myrtle Point VFW Posts were on hand to raise the flag, and local resident Pam De Jong sang the National Anthem. Shelby Moody, the 2009 Coos County Fair and Rodeo Queen was also there to cut the ribbon, marking the beginning of the fair. The ceremony was also a time to honor two couples, who have dedicated more than 50 years to the fair and fairgrounds. The fair museum foyer was renamed in honor of Arthur Evans and his late wife, Ramona.
