HONG KONG -(Dow Jones)- Hong Kong Disneyland's new managing director, Andrew Kam, said Wednesday he expects to see aggressive growth in annual attendance at the park. "I see the annual attendance (in coming years) will be more than the previous three years," Kam told reporters, without elaborating.
Hong Kong Disneyland has missed attendance targets since it opened in September 2005, but the South China Morning Post reported last week the park's attendance is expected to hit 5.6 million this year - finally reaching Walt Disney Co.'s (DIS) goal for the first year.
Disney and the Hong Kong government won't provide attendance figures, though the government had originally hoped attendance would hit 6.5 million in 2008, according to a paper the government gave lawmakers when the park was in the planning stages.
